The light colored canine, having basically been cast out for just being herself (or at least as far as she was concerned), had meandered quite a distance. This is where it had lead her, into an opening with thick, emerald grass that flowed when the springtime breeze blew past. There were some trees here and there, which only added to the meadow's beauty, and the patches of flora that would eventually become fruit later on in the season were in bloom. Of course, she wasn't aware they would eventually become fruits. All she knew was it was pretty and the area had a nice scent to it.
Her caudal appendage was lowered, not in a submissive manner, just in a calm manner. Her ears were pricked atop her skull, listening to anything there was to listen to, and her muscles were relaxed. Only faintly could she smell other wolves, but she hadn't paid it any mind. She figured they were scouts from her previous pack making sure Nefertiti had actually gone and left. Of course had she really been paying attention she would have noted rather quickly that the scents weren't recognizable.
Brown eyes cast a glance around the meadow before she found a squirrel whom had been meandering her and there himself, checking out trees and bushes and such. The light colored canine assumed he was probably foraging for buried nuts. Nevermind though, she saw an opportunity for at least some momentary juvenile fun. This is when Nefertiti lowered herself to the ground, creeping as silently as she could toward the tiny vermin. Luckily so far, she had gone unnoticed.
The squirrel suddenly stopped and looked behind it, and this is when the light colored canine suddenly stopped. He must have felt comfortable enough though, because the squirrel went right back to doing whatever it was he had been doing. Wiggling her hindquarters, Nefertiti moved to pounce, which looked much like a fox pouncing on a hole. Before she realized it though, the squirrel had escaped up a tree rather quickly. It was then the angered chattering could be heard from above her, which caused her to cast a glance upward to see the squirrel wiggling it's tail at her in the same angry manner.
This squirrel's attempt at antagonizing Nefertiti worked quite well, as she jumped up as best she could, placing her front paws upon the trunk of the tree and commenced vigorous barking at the squirrel... as if it cared.
